As the ‘Wattle Grove Park’ Shooting Range has an open template of 9000 foot pounds of energy then any firearm that you can legally own in Queensland can be shot at this range. Weapons Licensing Group has now chosen to ban new PTA’s for .338 Lapua’s, .375 Cheytac and similar firearms. They have also demanded that the Range Nominee stop writing letters giving permission for these calibres to be used at the Range. SSAA Qld are aware of this.
WLG have stated that they are not taking .338 Lapua’s and similar firearms from those who already own them – but we would add the word ‘yet’. Enjoy them while you can because it appears that Qld is heading the way of Western Australia.
Muzzle velocity of ammunition used not to exceed 4,100 feet per second (1,250 metres/second). Muzzle energy of ammunition used not to exceed 4,182 foot pounds energy (5,675joules) except for the ‘SSAA Big Game Match’ course of fire.
